Although COVID restrictions have now eased, thank goodness, we cannot guarantee that a snap lockdown won't occur again.
Our impact Board not prepared to gamble the current status remaining the status quo. If we have learnt anything in the past 15 months, the old adage that 'change is the only constant' is absolutely true. Our Board was not prepared to risk going back to our 'old' way of doing a Wrap & Pack Day with nearly 500 volunteers packing 2000 Bags of Love in a single weekend. A snap lockdown would make it impossible to get our Bags of Love out in time. And that's not even considering how we would keep all of our volunteers safe and well with appropriate social distancing etc even if a lockdown is not called. Determined to still achieve our goal of 2000 generously filled Bags of Love delivered in time for Mother's Day, and determined to provide COVID-safe measures above and beyond any rules and regulations specified by the government in order to ensure our volunteers are safe and well cared for, our Board drew up a variety of alternative plans. Even though Plan A, our 'old' way of doing things was clearly not going to work with COVID still hovering over our heads, our Board, relieved that there are 25 more letters in the alphabet, developed Plans B, C and D... and more... We have planned 36 3-hour shifts for us to Sort, Count, Wrap & Pack PLUS a choice of 2 pick up days for those of you who will help with the Drive & Deliver. For the Sort, Count, Wrap & Pack shifts:
The Drive & Deliver task requires extreme confidentiality to ensure the safety of the women, children and workers in the Safe Houses. The requirements are spelt out when you click here. By completing the booking process, you are committing to the code of confidentiality contained in that document. |
