Mother's Day 2020 - COVID-19 delivery feedback
Despite the challenge of COVID-19 restrictions, impact successfully delivered 1600 Bags of Love to women in hiding from extreme violence at home.
Some feedback received:
-
The Case Worker was absolutely ecstatic to receive the Bags telling me that there were so many women who will really appreciate the Bags.
-
Our delivery was extremely positive and the women felt like someone cared about them.
-
The woman I spoke to to arrange the delivery said that they were accepting new women from across the State and were putting them up in motels. She was really excited to receive the Bags as it was something just for the mum’s.
-
I spoke to Marie this morning. She was very grateful to receive the Bags particularly with the influx of new clients they have received over the past few weeks - and are likely to receive more.
-
I am a Case Worker and it was my privilege to deliver the Bags of Love to the women under my care. At one home, a little girl answered the door. Mum was in the bathroom tending to a black eye she had received that morning from her estranged partner in the supermarket. The child asked me if she could keep the bag as a Mother's Day present from her and her brothers. Of course I said yes.

Learning how to save a life!
An EPIC thank you to 1SDO Training Pty Ltd RTO who helped train some impact volunteers how to provide First Aid skills along with CPR teaching in preparation for Impact's 'Bags of Love' packing day for Mother's Day 2019.
Impact HIGHLY recommends all volunteers to participate in First Aid training. Having First Aid skills is uniquely important to respond appropriately to emergency (and non-emergency) situations both at home and in the workplace, and it helps build self confidence, awareness and adaptivity for ongoing safety for our family, friends and the greater community. It is never too late to learn simple ways that can actually save a life! ❤️ |
Please go to https://www.1sdotraining.com.au for more information on registration and training to learn with a wonderful team who have a wealth of professional experience and a passion for providing realistic skills that you can be confident to apply in real life.

In conversation with Vera Freidin:
Holocaust survivor and Mum & inspiration of impact's founder
Vera Freidin, mother and inspiration of impact's founder and president, Kathy Kaplan OAM, is a Holocaust survivor. Five years ago, at the age of 85, Vera wrote her memoir. impact's Board, having read her memoir, wanted to be able to share that with a broader public.
The LaunchPad Hub offered their venue and acclaimed author, Bram Presser, facilitated the event. Vera was engaging and entertaining telling her story of survival and thrival with a mixture of emotion and humour. |
