Smart devices have Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS which track your location. For extra safety, it is wise to turn these features off when you are not using them.

When you perform a search, access Google Maps, or get the weather, either manually or automatically through a smartphone widget, Google will log your location and other people can access this information.

To turn off the tracking devices on your Android or Apple device, follow the steps below:


If you are an Android user
follow these steps for your phone:
  • Go to Settings ​
  • Go to Privacy and Settings 
  • Select Location
  • Swipe the button to disable
  • Toggle Web & App Activity off​

How to turn off LOCATION SERVICES on your Android phone or tablet
follow these steps for your phone:
  • Go to Settings ​
  • Tap on Google then on Google Account
  • Tap on the Data & Personalisation tab
  • Tap on the Web & App Activity
  • Swipe to turn the Web & App Activity off​
To turn off location history:
  • Go to Settings ​
  • Tap on Google then on Google Account
  • Tap on the Data & Personalisation tab
  • Tap on Location History 
  • Swipe the setting to off for each phone or device connected to your Google account​

​If you are an Phone or an iPad user
follow these steps:
  • Go to Settings 
  • Choose Privacy from the settings options
  • Now choose Location Services from the privacy options
  • Swipe the switch next to Location Services to the OFF position
  • Confirm that you want to turn off and disable all possible location services by tapping on Turn Off

Alternatively,
navigate to the setting by following these steps:
  • Open Google in your browser and sign in to your iCloud account
  • Tap on your Profile Picture in the top right corner
  • Tap on the Google Account Button
  • Click on Personal Info & Privacy 
  • Tap on My Activity
  • Tap on Activity Controls
  • Swipe the Web & App Activity​​ ​switch

How to turn off 'frequent locations' on your iPhone or iCloud:
Your iPhone keeps track of places you've recently been as well as when and how often you visit those locations. If you are concerned that someone may use that information to find out information about you like where you live, work or go to school, it is necessary to turn off this feature.
  • Open Settings 
  • Locate and tap Privacy
  • Tap Location Services
  • Locate and tap System Services
  • Tap Frequent Locations
  • Swipe to turn Frequent Locations off
