Glen Eira City Council presented its annual Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Group of the Year Awards during an Australia Day Breakfast at Town Hall on Friday 19 January.
Guest speaker at the Breakfast was the founder of impact Kathy Kaplan OAM. impact is a volunteer-run organisation providing assistance to women and children fleeing extreme violence at home.

Get ready to party with the long-awaited return of Cabaret Balaganeyden in a special Purim edition of raucous, naughty fun, filled with Yiddish drinking songs! Come dressed in costume or simply don a fancy hat or mask and join in the fun as writers and MCs Evelyn Krape and Galit Klas lead you on a wild and wicked night of original Yiddish cabaret-style entertainment. The dialogue will be in English and there will be English surtitles for the Yiddish songs.

Cakes and baked goods will be judged by the acclaimed French pastry chef Pierrick Boyer.
This event will be held at the NOSH Tent at the In One Voice Festival in Sinclair and Selwyn Streets Elsternwick on Sunday 18 March 2018.

Traditionally served during the Festival of Passover, these cakes or baked goods must contain NO flour or rising agents like yeast.
The Open Door Community Singers will make a great impact on Sunday 25 February.
At 2pm, a 400 person choir will sing show tunes and at 7pm, a 100 person choir will sing Gospel songs.
